MrAaron Hapuku

My research interests are mostly qualitative, exploring real world experiences and people's social realities, including understanding their beliefs, attitudes and motivations. I am particularly interested in the health and wellbeing of Māori communities and how culture, identity and positive connections to te ao Māori impact upon individuals and whānau.

An example of this is my 2019 Masters dissertation 'Tū Manawa Ora - Tū Manawa Toa, which explored the experiences of tāne Māori (Māori men) who had been students and teachers of mau taiaha - Māori weaponry in Ōtautahi, Christchurch. I am currently involved in a number of research collaborations focussing predominantly in hauora Māori. I am also a current Doctoral candidate in the Doctor of Health Sciences degree (DHSc).
