Aaron’s research sits at the intersection of electrochemistry, materials engineering, and clean‑energy technologies, with emphasis on:
 
Electrochemical Energy Technologies
  • Redox flow batteries (electrode design, carbon surface engineering)
  • Hydrogen technologies: Proton exchange membrane( PEM) and anion exchange membrane (AEM) water electrolysis, fuel cells
  • Photoelectrochemical water splitting
  • Electrochemical carbon dioxide (CO₂) reduction (gas‑diffusion electrodes, mass‑transport optimisation)

 

Electrocatalysis & Surface Chemistry
  • Catalyst development for oxygen evolution and hydrogen evolution reactions
  • Synchrotron‑based X‑ray methods for probing surface reactions
  • Atomic‑scale understanding of reaction pathways under industrial conditions

 

Critical Materials & Sustainable Processing
  • Molten oxide electrolysis for critical metal production (e.g., Nd, Ta)
  • Vanadium extraction from ironsand and metallurgical waste streams
