Invited member of the New Zealand Australia Research Centre. I was invited to join the New Zealand Australia Research Centre based at the University of Canterbury in 2009 by its Director, Professor Philippa Mein-Smith (from History in the School of Humanities). NZARC exists to promote research on trans-Tasman issues, to provide Australian and NZ perspectives on global concerns, and to raise public awareness and understanding of Australia’s importance to NZ and vice versa. NZARC aims to develop research collaborations between individuals and institutions in NZ and Australia; to promote postgraduate training; to support working together to meet global challenges; and to contribute to policy and debate about the relationship between the countries. Further details are available at: http://www.nzac.canterbury.ac.nz/.
  • EVENT ADMINISTRATION
    1 Jan 2007 - 31 Dec 2009
Chair of Australasian Tax Teachers Association (ATTA) Conference Committee in 2009. Over 120 delegates attended the conference in Christchurch held at UC (the last time it was held at Christchurch was in 1993). Organisation occurred over the period from mid 2007 to mid 2009. With my organising team we also instigated a formal doctoral workshop as part of the conference. Feedback was extremely positive on both the academic and social programs, and on the quality of the keynote speakers. My advice has been frequently sought by subsequent conference convenors for insights into running an effective conference.

This work commenced in early 2005 with a launch of the journal later that year. This has also involved ensuring that the administratrive support necessary for the various issue editors is provided by ATTA. It has since received a ranking of "B" by ERA and CALD.
