Appointed to a two-year Chair Professorship of Political Science at the Institute of Political Science, National Sun Yat-Sen University (NSYSU) in Taiwan. NSYSU is member of Taiwan's T12 elite universities, the Institute of Political Science is one of Taiwan's one elite postgraduate school of political science.

Conference co-organiser for the 2010 Wellington Conference on Contemporary China "China and India: The End of Development Models?" This conference brings to New Zealand some of the top scholars on political economy researching the political and economic development of India and China.

Seminar Organiser, School of Social and Political Sciences Research Seminar Series (2010-present). I am the main organiser of the research seminar series of the School of Social and Political Sciences. These bi-weekly research seminars which are open to both staff, students and the public features research projects of academic staff and postgraduate students in anthropology, sociology, political science, media and communications.

Conference co-organiser for "Conference on Future of US-Taiwan-China Relations." This conference held in Dallas, Texas, USA in April 2009 was sponsored by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office which assembled some of the top scholars in China-Taiwan-US Relations.

Senior Fellow, The John Goodwin Tower Center for Political Studies, Southern Methodist University (2008-present). The John Goodwin Tower Center for Political Studies located in the campus of Southern Methodist University is the major university-based public policy and international political studies research centre in Dallas, Texas, USA. My appointment as a senior fellow recognises my contribution to research in international relations of East Asia and in particular on Taiwan-China issues.

Conference co-organiser for 2006 New Zealand Political Studies Association Conference. This general conference on political science was hosted by University of Canterbury and I am one of the main conference co-organisers.

Member of research team on Asian conflicts and political economy (2005-2007). I have been involved in on-going research projects on the topic with Dr. Shale Horowitz and Dr. Uk Heo, both of University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee, USA. Our most recent collaboration resulted in a book contract from Palgrave-Macmillan for an edited book on Conflict in Asia: China-Taiwan and the Koreas.

Leader of research team on Taiwan political behavior and partisanship studies (2003-present). I have been involved in on-going research with Dr. Karl Ho (University of Texas-Dallas), Dr. Tim Li-Khan Chen (Soochow University, Taiwan) and Dr. Tsung-Chi Yu (Fu Hsing Kang College) examining various aspects of Taiwanese political partisanship studies. This collaboration has resulted in numerous conference research papers.
