The theme of the conference was Tax and Sustainability. Planning commenced in late 2007. Initially a member of the organising committee upon Professor Sawyer becoming ill I became Co-Chair (Sept 2008-January 2009). The conference attracted 120 attendees from Australasia, the US, UK and Europe. Plenary speakers included then Court of Appeal President, the Honourable Justice William Young; the Commissioner of Taxation, Australia; the NZ Commissioner; Professor Neil Brooks, Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, Canada and Ms Julia Hoare, Partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers.
