BIO
Anna is an experienced neuroscience and psychology researcher and educator who recently returned to New Zealand after many wonderful years working in the Department of Experimental Psychology at Oxford University. She completed her PhD in Psychology here at UC in 2004.
Anna's research, using animal models and humans, focuses on the brain networks that support our everyday activities, from learning and remembering information to making decisions and finding our way around in our environment. My lab are working to understand how the brain is processing information to allow us to carry out these higher cognitive abilities so that we may understand what happens in the brain when learning and remembering no longer occur or we lose our ability to find our way around and make decisions. We are particularly interested in the influence of dorsal thalamic nuclei, located in the very centre of the brain, on interconnected cortical and subcortical brain regions.
