Associate ProfessorClare Dannenberg

High-impact, community-engaged teaching has been my passion and practice for the entirety of my 24 years working as academic faculty in tertiary education. Throughout my extensive career, I have acquired a very strong record of teaching and have received awards that attest to the broad impact of my practice. I have had many opportunities to lead other instructors in good teaching practice that increases student engagement, fosters collaboration between multiple stakeholders, and positions instructors on how to connect theory and practice to the world outside of academia. Personally, I highly value collaboration and innovation, and I believe that teaching is about building reciprocal relationships among my students, myself, and our community, as well as fostering multilevel engagement with scholarship. I hold students to a standard of excellence as they interact with theory, academic scholarship, and their communities, and my students allow me the opportunity to learn from them and their lived experiences. My teaching leadership is about fostering coalitions and connections between ideas, human and capital resources, and institutional structures with the purpose to build capacities, mapping strengths to shared visions.
