Associate ProfessorEnrica Sciarrino

My research interests lie in the field of Greek and Roman socio-cultural history and the development of new approaches towards the study of textual materials and cultural practices. I actively publish on a range of topics, including early Roman literature, translation, methodological issues, oratory, education, rhetoric, historiography, Cicero and the ancient fable. I have been fortunate enough to collaborate with colleagues around the world and I am often invited to conferences and workshops in Australasia, the United States, Italy and the United Kingdom. I have been Canterbury Fellow at Oxford in 2010 and 2025. In 2022 I was Visiting Professor at the University of Turin (Italy) where I taught a course on memory and the rhetorical tradition. I greatly enjoy teaching and in 2025 I received the UC Student Choice Award as Faculty Lecturer of the Year in Arts as well as the Wellbeing Champion Award.
