I established and managed the construction management cluster, personally developing and delivering courses until the appointments of Dr. Guo and later Dr. Van Der Walt. My pedagogical approach centers on industry relevance, authenticity, and the provision of equal learning opportunities to nurture intrinsic student motivation.

In teaching, I cover all stages of a construction project in New Zealand, from the business case to asset management. I draw upon industry experience and prior psychology studies in the delivery to explain motivation, group formation, and leadership. Delegating more prescriptive modules to newer colleagues, I focus on holistic principles and high expectations, resulting in positive teaching reviews and post-graduation student feedback attesting to the practical utility of the subject matter.

Recognising the importance of bicultural competence in the construction industry, I actively foster stronger collaborative ties with mana whenua, iwi, wānanga, and other Māori communities.

Serving as an accreditor for University Engineering programs for Engineering New Zealand and developing partnerships with other educational institutions and industry organisations helps to ensure that our curriculum stays relevant and covers industry developments.
