The appointment recognised my work in financial regulation. 2. Appointed Distinguished Research Fellow of NZ Institute for the Study of Competition and Regulation (December 2008). Restricted to those who are deemed to have made a significant contribution to the work of ISCR (one other Fellow).

    1. Member of NZ Finance Colloquium Organising Committee in 2008 and 2010 for conferences held the following years (in Wellington and Christchurch respectively), and convenor of the 2010 Committee - duties included determining and writing web page content, arranging catering and accommodation options, organising the evening function, arranging sponsorship and venue, writing and sending out the Call for Papers, reviewing submissions, putting together programme, and hiring workers. 2. Permanent Member of Executive Committee for Financial Markets and Corporate Governance Conference, held in Melbourne in April every year. Duties involve soliciting and reviewing papers, organising sessions, and setting future strategies.

    Served on the Programme Committees of the following conferences. 1. Indian School of Business Centre for Analytical Finance Annual Summer Conference: 2007-2010, Hyderabad. This is a small, high-quality conference that accepts less than 10% of submissions. Most of the presenting authors are from top-ranked US universities. 2. Joint NZ Association of Economists/Econometric Society Australian Annual Meeting: 2008, Wellington. This was a special conference put together to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 'Phillips Curve' discovered by NZ economist Bill Phillips. With over 500 registrations, this was the largest gathering of economists ever held in NZ. 3. Financial Management Association Asian Annual Meeting: 2009, Xiamen. 4. Competition, Regulation and Development Research Forum: 2007, New Delhi.

    Organised and hosted (through ISCR) 49 public lectures, seminars, debates and workshops highlighting recent research on economics and finance topics to a wide range of academic, industry, and government audiences (2005-08). Most were held in Wellington, a few in Auckland and Christchurch, and one multi-day workshop was held in Sydney. Organised (or gave) five public lectures in Christchurch (2009-10).
