BIO

I'm a New Zealand screenwriter, director and producer who whakapapas to the Hokianga, ko Ngā Puhi te iwi, ko Te Popoto te hapu, and to Glasgow and Manchester.

The projects I've recently worked on include being Consulting Producer and Writer on Firebite, Warwick Thornton's indigenous Australian vampire series for AMC Network in the US, and in collaboration with See-Saw films. I created and wrote The Dead Lands, an 8-part horror/fantasy limited series written for US Network AMC/Shudder with TVNZ. I was Writer, Executive Producer and Second Unit Director on the Netflix Original UK-NZ thriller 6 Days which featured Abbie Cornish, Mark Strong and Jamie Bell; it was based on the true story of the Iranian Embassy Siege in London in 1980. I also worked as a writer on the 2017 McLaren documentary directed by Roger Donaldson on the life of the Formula 1 Driver and Innovator Bruce McLaren. In 2014 I wrote and was a producer on the te reo Māori action film The Dead Lands which topped the New Zealand box office when it was released. I've also previously directed films (The Irrefrutable Truth About Demons and Perfect Creature for 20th Century Fox) and television (Spartacus - Blood and Sand for producer Rob Tapert and Starz Network in the US, sketch comedy for Dave Gibson’s “Gibson Group,” and dramatic reconstructions for New Zealand’s “Natural History Unit.”)
