RESEARCH INTERESTS
My research focuses on wireless communications, localisation and tracking, distributed sensing, signal processing and AI-enabled wireless systems. I am particularly interested in the design of robust communication and sensing technologies for complex operational environments, including mission-critical communications, private wireless networks, remote sensing, sensor fusion, edge computing and UAV-enabled systems.
A significant theme of my work is the development of technologies that continue to operate effectively when infrastructure is constrained, unavailable or degraded. This includes resilient communications, wireless positioning and tracking, operational situational awareness, and AI-assisted optimisation of wireless networks and antenna systems.
Application domains span disaster resilience, emergency response, critical infrastructure, transport and autonomous systems, environmental monitoring, biosecurity and logistics automation. Recent work includes localisation technologies for GPS-denied environments, distributed sensing systems, smart-grid communications, and the use of AI techniques to improve wireless network performance and coverage.
I'm keen to connect with others for research collaboration. New Zealand is an Associated Country to Horizon Europe Pillar II, enabling participation in collaborative international research addressing global challenges.
