Jalal Mohammed’s research focuses on the intersection of public health, health systems, and health management, with a strong applied emphasis on improving health outcomes in Pacific and low- to middle-income settings.

His work centres on health systems and policy reform, particularly the role of decentralisation, leadership, and management capacity in shaping access and system performance. He has a strong interest in health equity, exploring barriers to care among underserved and vulnerable populations, including Pacific communities.

Jalal’s research also engages with digital health and telehealth, examining how emerging technologies and e-learning can enhance access while addressing potential inequities. Complementing this, he investigates health workforce development, leadership, and organisational performance to strengthen healthcare delivery.

His broader public health research spans areas such as mental health, infectious diseases, and population health trends, often using systems-level approaches. He maintains a particular focus on Pacific and migrant health, including culturally responsive interventions and life-course perspectives.
