DrJames Williams

I run a data driven consulting company focused on applications of data science and machine learning in infrastructure, asset maintenance, statutory inspection, manufacturing, and other start up industries in New Zealand. I develop and maintain a number of data driven software products both under contract and licence agreements, and a I provide a range of consulting services around this work.

I am also actively involved in teaching, coordinating, and developing the Masters of Applied Data Science programme at the University of Canterbury. I am responsible for developing new industry partnerships with the University of Canterbury, and I work closely with students, faculty, and industry to create new opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and consulting. I manage the end of year masters projects over the summer, where students work directly with industry partners to solve real world problems that have research opportunity and practical business outcomes for the company. I teach a course on scalable data science and machine learning that draws on my experience consulting in industry.
