BIO

I am an environmental microbiologist, with a particular focus on the biodiversity, ecology and biogeography of extreme microbial communities. Throughout my research career, I have developed skill in DNA sequencing, bioinformatics, biostatistics, isolating/culturing of microorganisms, and field work to understand how extremophilic microorganisms live (and thrive) in extreme ecosystems, e.g., geothermal springs. I successfully completed my PhD in 2023 from Te Whare Wānanga o Waikato - University of Waikato, Aotearoa-New Zealand, and became a Rutherford Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha - University of Canterbury in 2025.
