RESEARCH INTERESTS

As a 'prac-ademic', my research interests include Kaupapa Māori and qualitative research, Indigenous perspectives of Sport for Development (SFD) and SFD and Peace (SDP). Currently, project teams that I'm working with and alongside include an SSHRC funded Sport for Reconciliation (SFR) grant based in Canada and across Australia and Aotearoa (NZ). I'm also on the Scientific Committee for the UNESCO Co-Chair of SDP and Environment (SDPE).

Somehow, I still find the time to work on two Marsden funded projects about 'Re-imagining mainstream sport' in Aotearoa (NZ) and giving back to important kaupapa such as: membership on my daughter's school 'Whānau Māori Komiti'; judging the recent 'Manu Kōrero - Junior English' category; acting as MC for the 'Eke Tangaroa' Māori graduation ceremony held at UC earlier this year. As you can see, I'm active in the community and enjoy giving voice to and representing the best interests of our rangatahi (youth) Māori.
