TEACHING & SUPERVISION SUMMARy

John was an undergraduate at UC 1961-4, joined the staff in 1968, retired 2005.

Between 1969-2025 he gave some 400 talks worldwide, including specialist physics talks to conferences and universities, and many diverse talks to science teacher conferences, primary schools, secondary schools, the general public, archaeology conferences, scientific societies, Dante Society, Classical Association, tramping clubs, WEA courses, Museums, RNVR Veterans Association, Diving Clubs, IEEE Centennial Conference, amature wine clubs, amateur radio clubs, NZ Institute of Chemistry, International Science Festivals, Skeptics Confence, Probus Clubs, Rotary Clubs, Lions Clubs, Lodges, Women's Fellowship Group, U3A, CERN, Canterbury Antique and Collectables Club, Canterbury Astronomical Society, and Medical Physics groups. 

Between 1989-2015 some 50 public lectures world-wide were associated with a fire-walking event.
