RESEARCH INTERESTS
In my research I have been working in large research collaborations and programs, such as the “SFT/TRR38 - Initial Ecosystem Development” and “SFB 607 -Growth and Parasite defence”. Within these multidisciplinary projects, my groups have been investigating plant – soil – microbial interactions and functional microbial communities in the rhizosphere using 13C isotope labelling and litter decomposition experiments. To carry out those research studies, I have lead teams in remote locations, eg. glacier forefields and open cast mines. Since 2012 I have been exploring opportunities to sustainably recycle and reuse various biowastes, including biosolids and wood waste.
