Vice-President of Australian and New Zealand Society of International Law 2011 - 2016

2011 (Sept)-present: Elected Vice-President of the Australian New Zealand Society of International Law (ANZSIL). 2010-present: Elected ANZSIL Council Member. ANZSIL brings together the region's leading thinkers and practitioners in all spheres of international law and is the leading society of international law in the Southern Hemisphere.

Co-convenor (with Professor Don Rothwell, ANU, Canberra, Australia) of two workshops for project: "Contemporary Threats to Antarctic Security: Legal & Policy Issues" (2009: University of Canterbury) (2010: Australian National University)

Co-convenor (with Joanna Mossop, Victoria, University of Wellington) of a session for the 4th Global Conference on Oceans, Coasts and Islands: Ensuring Survival, Preserving Life and Improving Governance, May 3–7 2010 at UNESCO in Paris. The panel was entitled Improving Policy and Legal Integration in Oceans Governance and comprised leading law of the sea specialists including Professor Alan Boyle (University of Edinburgh) and Professor David Freestone (Georgetown University).

Invited to participate in the Trans-Tasman Maritime Security Project (2008-2009)

Co-convenor of a research project: "Contemporary Threats to Antarctic Security: Legal and Policy Issues" (with Professor Don Rothwell (ANU) and Dr Alan Hemmings (Gateway Antarctica)) (2009 – 2011). This project has resulted in two workshops, a series of articles published in the 2009 edition of the New Zealand Yearbook of International Law, and an edited collection (forthcoming, to be published by Routledge in 2012).
