My teaching is closely integrated with my research and focuses on developing future-focused, evidence-informed educational practice across schooling and tertiary contexts. I design learning experiences that foreground critical engagement with digital and AI technologies, authentic application, and culturally responsive pedagogy grounded in Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

I teach and supervise across postgraduate and professional learning programmes, with a strong emphasis on research-informed learning design, assessment innovation, and AI literacy. My teaching draws directly on my research on digital pedagogy, teacher professional knowledge, and AI literacy frameworks, enabling students to engage with emerging research while developing practical capability. 

Key projects:

• InclusiveAI.nz (Ako Aotearoa): Contributed to the development of a national resource hub supporting inclusive and culturally responsive approaches to AI use in assessment, building AI literacy for diverse ākonga and educators across Aotearoa New Zealand.
• AI for Educators short courses: Led the development of research-informed professional learning translating AI literacy and assessment research into scalable capability building for educators across schooling and tertiary sectors.

A significant aspect of my teaching impact lies in building educator capability beyond my own classroom. I lead and contribute to professional learning initiatives for teachers and tertiary educators, support curriculum and assessment innovation, and mentor colleagues in research-informed teaching practice. This includes the design of micro-credentials and short courses that respond to sector needs and translate research into scalable professional learning.

My teaching excellence has been recognised nationally, including through the Ako Aotearoa Tertiary Teaching Excellence Award, and through sustained invitations to lead workshops and contribute to sector-wide teaching and learning initiatives. Collectively, my teaching practice strengthens the link between research, pedagogy, and system-level educational change.

I supervise doctoral and master’s research focused on AI literacy, digital pedagogy, assessment, and curriculum change. My supervision emphasises conceptual rigour, ethical research practice, and translation of research into policy and professional contexts, contributing to research capacity building in digital and AI-enabled education.
