I am a phonetician and phonologist, with a focus on vowels and prosody in Austronesian languages. I am interested in how lesser-studied languages can inform us about phonological categories like 'diphthong', 'foot' and 'stressed syllable'. At New Zealand Institute of Language, Brain and Behaviour, I am a post-doctoral fellow and primary investigator of the Marsden fast-start project Word stress in te reo Māori: production and perception. Before this, I was a post-doctoral fellow on the project Te reo Māori vowel sequences within and across morpheme boundaries (PI Jen Hay).
