BIO

I use engaged qualitative methods in my research to study how paid and unpaid workers in health and social care contexts intersubjectively give meaning to their work and collectively construct workplace relationships that foster collaboration, compassion, and access to meaningful work for all. Over the past fourteen years, my research projects have focused on ambulance crews; paid care workers in home-based and institutional contexts; family carers of older adults; personnel who work in palliative care; doctors; and nursing staff in long-term care homes. I hope that my work can showcase the value and importance of care work of all kinds and advocate for adequate and appropriate supports for people who carry it out.
