TEACHING & SUPERVISION SUMMARy
My teaching centres on helping students and researchers communicate their science with clarity, accuracy, and confidence. I teach research‑informed communication methods across posters, presentations, publications, and digital media, with a strong emphasis on effective visual storytelling.
In my workshops and one‑on‑one sessions, I guide students in designing technical figures, producing high‑quality images, and structuring scientific narratives that meet journal and conference standards. I also support blended, remote, and participatory learning, developing teaching practices that make scientific communication accessible and engaging for diverse learners.
Drawing on my background in scientific photography, communication design, and information design, I aim to equip students with practical, transferable skills that elevate the impact of their research and prepare them for professional scientific environments.
I co-teach an intensive residential field course in Practical Field Botany (Biol 305) during January each year (2011–present) as well as give guest lectures and workshops focusing on science commumication across many UC Science courses.
