BIO
I use mathematical modelling to decipher fundamental behaviour of soft materials. For example, how does a complex fluid with a microstructure flow? What is the role of surface tension in shaping fluid-fluid interfaces? How does tension propagate through a cellular tissue? How does a nearly spherical embryo develop into a sophisticated shape? Most of these research questions are centred around mechanics, but can also involve biology and chemistry. Understanding these basic questions could help applications in diverse fields such as biology, materials science, engineering and health.
I am looking for collaboration with experimental researchers who are interested in combining experiments with theory or computation.
I am keen to hear from potential research students who have strong academic records and a passion for science. Please also check the various scholarships provided by UC and external organisations.
