    CSEAR Emerging Scholars' Colloquium.
    1 Jan 2009 - 1 Jan 2009
Member of the organising committee for the CSEAR (Conference on Social and Environmental Accounting Research) Emerging Scholars' Colloquium. This colloquium was held at the University of Canterbury , Christchurch, New Zealand on 5 December, 2009. I was one of two members of the organising committee, although we reported to the CSEAR 2009 Organising Committee. Organising the colloquium was a collaborative effort. This involved securing the support of senior academics (who acted as mentors to the emerging scholars), reviewing emerging scholars' applications to attend, organising the programme (e.g. assigning mentors to emerging scholars), and managing the logistics of the day. The colloquium including presentations by senior academics (e.g. publish or perish) and mentoring sessions. The colloquium attracted 6 senior academics and 12 emerging scholars. Thus, I contributed to the research environment by providing emerging scholars an opportunity to gain advice from senior academics.

Organiser of the ACIS Dept's PhD Colloquium (Department of Accounting and Information Systems University of Canterbury). I organised the Department of Accounting and Information System's PhD Colloquium in 2008 and 2009. This involved inviting the ACIS Dept's PhD candidates to present their progress to date (each candidate had to submit an abstract, which I reviewed); developing a programme; marketing the PhD Colloquium to staff and students of the College of Business and Economics; and coordinating activities on the day. I contributed to the research environment by giving the ACIS Dept's PhD candidates (8 in 2008 and 7 in 2009) a venue to disseminate their research and receive constructive feedback on their research.
