    At the invitation of the Executive of the International Association of Applied Psychology (IAAP) I was invited to put my name forward for appointment as President of Division 6 (Clinical & Community) of IAAP. My appointment was confirmed in September, 2010. The appointment runs until the International Congress of Applied Psychology, Paris, in 2014, and I will have major responsibilities in planning this conference as a member of the IAAP Board of Directors. I will also attend the 30th International Congress of Psychology in Cape Town in July 2012 in order to attend an IAAP Board meeting. IAAP is the oldest extant international association of psychologists, and is accredited to the UN.

    Director for Scientific Affairs, New Zealand Psychological Society. The Director, Scientific Affairs is elected to the Executive of the Society for 2-year terms. Elected first in 2004, re-elected in 2006 and 2008. Responsibilities of this role in addition to those generally assumed by a member of the Executive involved liaison between the Executive and (a) the Royal Society of NZ (the NZPsS is a corporate member of RSNZ); and (b) the Editor and the Editorial Board of the New Zealand Journal of Psychology. I participated in two rounds of selection for successive Editors of the Journal. The Director of Scientific Affairs is also responsible for overseeing the planning of the programme of the Society's Annual Conference, and monitoring and participating in the Conference quality control process. The Director also advises the Executive regarding the selection of Keynote Speakers and Invited Speakers for the Annual Conference and for various Professional Development programmes run by the Society.

Fellowship is given by the Society in recognition that the Fellow possesses an advanced knowledge of psychology in at least one of its fields and that the Fellow has made substantial and original contributions to the advancement of psychological knowledge. There are currently fewer than 50 NZPsS Fellows out of a Society membership of ~1000.
