I am a registered teacher in Aotearoa New Zealand with teaching experience across all sectors—mātauranga Māori, early childhood, primary, secondary, and tertiary education. I am passionate about teaching and supporting educators in English-medium settings who aspire to strengthen their knowledge, skills, and confidence in:

• Embedding te reo Māori as a living, everyday language within teaching and learning contexts
• Articulating and applying tikanga Māori—understanding the reasons behind what we do as professional teachers
• Becoming conversant with all four articles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and their implications for practice
• Being receptive and responsive to pedagogical innovations that centre kaupapa Māori contexts and support mātauranga Māori
• Designing, carrying out, and reporting authentic Indigenous research innovations

I am committed to applying a critical lens when developing bicultural curricula for teacher education programmes, creating pathways where Māori tamariki can be taught and thrive as Māori within mainstream services and schools in Aotearoa New Zealand. I believe that Indigenous identity, language, and culture form the foundation for this country’s ongoing development of bicultural curriculum—an exciting and relevant space for all Indigenous Peoples globally.
