RESEARCH INTERESTS
I’m broadly interested in how living organisms evolve the ability to produce and perceive complex biotic signals and abiotic cues. During my Ph.D., I investigated how environmental and ecological factors shaped the evolution of complex signals in Schizocosa wolf spiders.
In my first postdoctoral work in Germany, I examined whether interspecific variation in social complexity among Tanganyikan shell-dwelling cichlids influences the evolution of social signals within groups.
As a Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP) Fellow, I’m collaborating with researchers at the University of Canterbury and Plant & Food Research to explore how plants perceive, integrate, and respond to information from their multisensory world—the Phyto-Umwelt.
Beyond these biological questions, I’m also interested in applying computational approaches, including information theory and deep learning, to develop quantitative and reproducible methods for answering complex evolutionary questions.
