RESEARCH INTERESTS
Richard’s research spans advanced optical engineering, computational imaging, and space domain awareness. He focuses on the development of high precision imaging systems for astronomy and satellite observation, with particular expertise in:
- Adaptive optics design and simulation for large ground based telescopes
- Wavefront sensing and correction under dynamic atmospheric conditions
- Optical modelling and performance optimisation for extremely large telescopes
- High resolution satellite imaging and space debris detection
- Machine learning applications in wavefront sensing, image reconstruction, system optimisation, and performance prediction for complex optical systems
