My research has long focused on understanding animal cognition and the remarkable behavioural strategies animals use to survive. My work spans areas such as perception, search images, selective attention, problem‑solving, and decision‑making, with a strong emphasis on how predators and prey co‑evolve. I am especially fascinated by communication systems and the complex conditional strategies that emerge in predatory contexts, including aggressive mimicry. Over the years, my goal has been to uncover how animals make sense of their environment and how intricate behavioural patterns arise through evolutionary pressures. Since my appointment as Emeritus Professor in 2020, I have continued to contribute to research, mentorship, and the broader scientific community, engaging with colleagues and students who share my passion for behavioural biology and cognitive ecology.
