  • EVENT PARTICIPATION
As HOD of the Department of Civil and Natural Resources Engineering at the University of Canterbury I initiated and led the establishment of the UC Quake Centre following the Canterbury earthquake sequence. This Centre acts in a number of roles but in particular it facilitates research activity that is of particular interest to industry partners. It is funded by its industry partners and it has an annual budget of around $1M.
  • EVENT PARTICIPATION
I was an invited keynote speaker at the inaugural NZ Physical Oceanography Workshop in Wellington 2009. I spoke on "Doing physical oceanography without an ocean".
  • EVENT PARTICIPATION
One of the invited plenary lecture at the 2nd Fluids in New Zealand Conference, held in Auckland January 2014.
