My teaching is grounded in Bakhtin's dialogism and is informed by culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogies. I aim to continuously refine my teaching through research-informed practice and professional learning. Since joining UC in 2022, I have served as Course Coordinator for multiple courses within Initial Teacher Education programmes. In recent times, I led a redesign of the course AKOP352 to empower Initial Teacher Education students to contribute to sustainable futures by embedding Education for Sustainability in their teaching practice. My colleague, Associate Professor Billy O'Steen, and I were recognised for our work in this course with the 2025 UC Advancing Sustainability Knowledge Award. I strongly believe in systematically evaluating and adapting my teaching practice to improve engagement and learning experiences for our learners.
