TEACHING & SUPERVISION SUMMARy

Dr Tyron Love is an Associate Professor at the University of Canterbury Business School, where he teaches across undergraduate programmes in management and business. His teaching spans introductory through to advanced levels and reflects a commitment to critical, inclusive, and contextually grounded business education. At the first-year level, he contributes to MGMT100: Fundamentals of Management, which introduces students to core managerial functions while situating organisations within local and global environments. At the intermediate level, he teaches BSNS201: Business and Culture, a course that encourages students to critically reflect on culture in its many forms—ethnic, organisational, national, and global—and to develop the skills needed to engage respectfully and effectively across diverse contexts. At the advanced level, Dr Love contributes to MGMT330: Communication Management, where students critically analyse organisational communication as a dynamic system shaping decision-making, identity, and participation, and learn to design effective communication strategies in complex organisational settings.

Dr Love also has substantial experience in postgraduate supervision, including supervising and examining multiple PhD and research-based degree candidates on topics such as Indigenous organisations, corporate responsibility, and organisational dynamics. His teaching and supervision are informed by an interdisciplinary research agenda that engages with Indigenous knowledge, organisational studies, and critical management scholarship.

Prior to joining the University of Canterbury, Dr Love taught at several leading universities, including the University of Auckland, where he held a Senior Lecturer position, as well as Massey University and Murdoch University (Australia). Across these roles, he has developed a strong track record of delivering engaging, research-informed teaching that challenges students to think critically about management, culture, and the role of organisations in society.
