QuakeCoRE

Summary

This group represents the University of Canterbury’s membership within QuakeCoRE, Aotearoa New Zealand’s national Centre of Research Excellence (CoRE) for earthquake resilience. Hosted at UC and funded by the Tertiary Education Commission, QuakeCoRE is advancing the country’s resilience to seismic hazards through world‑class research, capability development, and deep national and international collaboration.

QuakeCoRE brings together multi‑institutional research programmes that are globally connected and highly integrated. Its work advances the science and implementation pathways of earthquake resilience, using system‑level approaches that link the physical, engineering, and social sciences with relevant research institutions across the country.

The Centre’s research is organised into Disciplinary ThemesInter‑disciplinary Programmes, and coordinated through Technology Megatrend Capability Areas and Regional Network Areas. Together, these structures support a cohesive national effort to improve the resilience of communities, infrastructure, and lifeline systems.
