My research looks at how experiences early in life can leave lasting biological effects.   

  

I am particularly interested in how exposure to drugs and environmental stressors during pregnancy can influence gene regulation and development in offspring.   

  

By studying changes at the molecular level, I aim to understand how these early influences may shape health and behaviour later in life.   

  

I use a combination of genetic and genomic approaches, often working with model organisms, to explore how genes respond to environmental signals and how those responses are passed on as development unfolds.   

  

This work helps shed light on the biological pathways linking prenatal environments to long‑term outcomes, with relevance for human health and wellbeing.    

 

My research extends to understanding how genomic regulation of muscle fibres contributes to human performance, rehabilitation, and metabolic health.  

 
By integrating spatial transcriptomics, RNA imaging, and quantitative modelling of fibre‑type distributions, I investigate how molecular pathways in muscle relate to variation in strength, endurance, and adaptive capacity.  


This work has relevance for injury recovery, age‑related muscle decline, type 2 diabetes, and high‑performance sport, aligning biological mechanisms with real‑world outcomes. 

 

Ultimately, my research seeks to provide evidence that can inform public understanding, healthcare decisions, and policies around health wellbeing and early‑life development.
