This Forum brought together 50 youth (ages 18-25) from disaster-hit areas in the Asia Pacific region with 50 youth from Christchurch to create ways for them to be more involved in the rebuild of their communities. I was appointed to this role by the New Zealand UNESCO Office due to their recognition of my scholarly work in the field of service-learning and community engagement. This was a significant appointment because it was a high-profile, international event and my contribution was desired because New Zealand UNESCO knew of my research in this field.
