Fulbright Visiting Scholar Award in New Zealand Studies (2011). This award is for New Zealand academics to research and teach a course in New Zealand Studies at Georgetown University in Washington, DC for one or two semesters. At Georgetown University in 2011 I researched the appropriateness of antiterrorism measures adopted by low risk countries, and I taught a course on the transformation of New Zealand society over the past 30 years.

I was voted Vice-President of the Australia New Zealand Comparative Education Society (2009-2011).

I won election to the position of Academic Vice-President of the AUS from an electoral college of all AUS academic staff.

I was invited by the PVC International of Uni of Auckland and Director of NZ Asia Institute to make a presentation as part of a select group of people considering perspectives on APEC - 1997.

My research, writing and speaking on issues of global development has led to my being invited to address a range of different community groups on these matters. In 2002, for example, I was invited to be a keynote speaker at the National Peace Workshops.

Invited to be keynote speaker at annual conference of the Australia New Zealand Comparative and International Education Society (ANZCIES), 2007. With this annual conference ANZCIES aims to increase the rigor of research in comparative and international education and to assist in communicating results to policy makers and the public within the region.

Invited to be on an international panel of Pacific Education experts (Eve Coxon, Kabini Sanga, Seu'ula Johansson-Fua, Rebecca Spratt) to present to the World Congress of Comparative Education Societies Conference in Beijing on the topic of "Theorizing CIE methodologies of and for the Pacific".
