Te Whāriki Hirikapo exists to honour and advance UC’s commitment to being a Te Tiriti-led university by championing a culturally responsive academic environment grounded in partnership with Ngāi Tūāhuriri and Ngāi Tahu.
It does this by promoting awareness, understanding, and initiatives that support Māori, Pacific Peoples, and other culturally and linguistically diverse communities, ensuring these are accessible, useful, and meaningful to all.
To achieve this, the Komiti has been established within the School of Psychology, Speech and Hearing as a dedicated Rōpū, with a distinct kaupapa to promote and facilitate culturally responsive practices among staff and students.
