TEACHING & SUPERVISION SUMMARy

Professor White views PhD supervision as a highlight of her teaching portfolio. She supervises a dedicated cohort of transdisciplinary PhD students, and postdoctoral scholars, who are utilising dialogic approaches, who she sees as lead authors of their scholarship. PhD students under Jayne's supervision are encouraged to view their doctoral experience as a professional journey of life-long 'becoming-with' rather than a task to be overcome alone. Students should also understand that dialogic research "is not for the faint hearted" (White & Janfada, 2025), though the rewards are enormous for those willing to persevere, as many of Jayne's past PhD students will attest to!

Professor White is currently leading the development of a PostGraduate qualification in Early Years Digital Learning. Prior to this she coordinated EDME 401 on Research Methods and co-developed courses in the Bachelor and Postgraduate ECE programmes. She is able to pivot across many courses and is, this year,  teaching in the following:

TECE362

AKOE172

AKOT232

This year she will be trialling a virtual experience with students, as part of her research with colleagues at the UC HiTLab.

As a registered teacher Jayne regularly visits and assesses students on placement in ECE settings. She views this as a wonderful opportunity to support students to make sense of their learning in real-life professional contexts.
