    I was invited to be a Fellow of the Center for the Advanced Study of the Behavioral Sciences, Palo Alto. The Center invites approximately 50 scholars each year (of which only 2 or 3 are typically linguists) through a process designed to identify scholars of "exceptional accomplishment or promise". At the time I was invited, you couldn't apply for fellowships at the CASBS – candidates were anonymously nominated and ranked by panels of experts. (Offered fellowship in 2005, residence deferred).
