Joseph's research interests centre on Pacific education and the experiences of Pacific learners, families, and communities across diverse educational contexts. He is particularly interested in Pacific research methodologies, Indigenous and Pacific epistemologies, and the ways schools can work in genuine partnership with communities to support belonging, engagement, and educational success. His work also explores boys' engagement and achievement in schooling, educational leadership and organisational change, and the role of curriculum in shaping learner pathways and transitions between secondary, tertiary, and employment settings. Across these areas, Joseph is interested in research that bridges policy, practice, and community voice, contributing to more responsive, equitable, and culturally sustaining educational systems.
