The conference was hosted by the National Centre for Research on Europe and the Department of Global, Cultural and Language Studies at Canterbury University and jointly organized by the three Australasian academic associations: Australasian Association for Communist and Post-Communist Studies (AACPS), Australia and New Zealand Slavists' Association and Ukrainian Studies Association of Australia and New Zealand. At the conference, over 60 academics (including four extraordinary keynote speakers) from around the world presented rigorously selected papers approaching the past, present and future of the post-communist countries from a broad range of disciplines. Member of the organizing committee, programme coordinator and executive coordinator of the international conference “Europe Twenty Years after the Fall of the Berlin Wall: Overcoming ‘East and West’” (Wellington, New Zealand, 3-4 November 2009). The conference was organised by the National Centre for Research on Europe at Canterbury University, Victoria University of Wellington and several other co-organisers and sponsors, including the Polish and German embassies in New Zealand and the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign affairs (who hosted the conference in the New Zealand Parliament Buildings). At the conference, academics from around the world presented more than two dozen rigorously selected papers, approaching Europe’s post-1989 divisions. The vast majority of participants, guests and media reporters have evaluated this conference as a very successful academic and international event, which made an important contribution to promoting both “New Zealand in the world and the world in New Zealand".

The EUCN conferences are annual events organized by the NZ European Union Centre Network (a network made up of seven New Zealand universities), and the host university at which several dozen papers by academics from New Zealand and other countries are regularly presented on European and European Union Studies-related topics.

Session chair at the International conference: Challenges of Economic Sciences in the 21st Century, Institute of Economic Sciences, Belgrade, 4-5 December 2008. The conference was organised by the Institute of Economic Sciences (Belgrade, Serbia) and several other domestic and international co-organisers and sponsors. At the conference, I was among academics from more than 20 countries who presented more than hundred selected papers, most of which were published in the conference proceedings (see http://www.ien.bg.ac.rs/images/stories/Izdavastvo/IEN/challenges_ec_sci.pdf)

I chaired a session and profiled the NCRE panel “EU Foreign Policy: global ambitions with limited outcomes?” at the conference. The panel comprised four papers written by the NCRE staff and adjunct fellows and was received with a lot of interest by the conference participants.
