RESEARCH INTERESTS

Robin’s research is centred on engineering seismology and geotechnical earthquake engineering, with a focus on ground-motion modelling, seismic hazard analysis and seismic site response analysis. His work spans:

 

  • Crustal and shallow‑velocity structure modelling, incorporating geophysical and geotechnical constraints
  • Ground‑motion prediction, using both empirical ground‑motion models (GMMs) and physics‑based simulations
  • Probabilistic seismic hazard analysis (PSHA) and scenario‑based hazard characterisation
  • Seismic site characterization and site response analysis
  • Analysis and modelling of spatial correlations in ground motions

 

His research relies heavily on programming, large‑scale data analysis, machine learning, and high‑performance computing (HPC), enabling the development of computationally intensive models and simulations that advance understanding of earthquake hazards and engineering performance.

 

Robin is actively seeking PhD candidates to work on projects evaluating seismic hazard analysis and code design provisions for vertical ground motions, with opportunities to contribute to next‑generation modelling and hazard assessment frameworks.
