I use Bayesian methods and structural equation modelling to investigate a range of societal and group factors (Social Psychology). Primarily I now use Social Identity Theory and Self Categorisation Theory to investigate how people determine which groups they belong to and derive a sense of self from those groups.

I use a range of data sources including surveys, administrative data, and experimental data. We often investigate new methodologies in order to draw these data sources together to robustly investigate a research question.

A fair amount of my research has a cultural focus, namely how Māori culture can manifest behavioural change. I also have ongoing studies on student populations and wider general population work all with a social focus.
