The Accord Process noted the Institute of Applied Technology as a case of best practice in integrating VET, Higher Education and Industry in co-designing education programs.

The Business Council of Australia recognises the Institute of Applied Techology Digital - a partnership between UTS, Macquarie University, Microsoft and Tafe NSW - Institute of Applied Technology – Digital as a gold-standard mechanism that develops industry-led training that is well suited to workforce upskilling.

Professor Naidoo was instrumental in designing and driving one of New South Wales’ (NSW) most consequential tertiary education policy reforms - the integration of VET and Higher Education through the establishment of the NSW Institutes of Applied Technology - reshaping learner pathways and strengthening the coherence of the tertiary system. The success of his work was profiled as a best practice case study by the Australian Productivity Commission and in the Australian Commonwealth Government’s review of tertiary education (the Accord process).
