EquipmentUC Research Compute Hub (RCH)

The UC-Research Compute Hub (UC-RCH) is a powerful platform where researchers can perform compute-intensive tasks. Management and allocation of resources is done by the SLURM job scheduler. Access is through a simple online user interface called Open OnDemand or through ssh. The UC-RCH is housed in our primary data centre on Dovedale with ever expanding compute resources and the ability to expand to the AWS public cloud, if needed. Other features include: - High Performance Computing (HPC) and High Throughput Computing (HTC) jobs. Examples of such works are simulation of black holes, fluid dynamics and weather simulations. - Increased data security and robust disaster recovery: Ensures the safety and integrity of our research data. - Better collaboration: Allow researchers from different departments and institutions to work together more effectively. - The UC-RCH also utilises the Ondemand web portal for access to high-level interactive apps. For example, Jupyter, RStudio, Matlab, and Visual Studio Code environments, a staple in many fields, are available to run through local web browsers.
