The UPC900/P-920 ÄKTA FPLC system is a versatile platform for fast protein purification, built around precise flow control and reliable UV monitoring. The P-920 pump delivers stable, pulse-free flow across a wide range of rates, making it easy to run everything from gentle gravity-like separations to high-resolution chromatographic steps. Paired with the UPC900 UV detector, the system provides real-time absorbance monitoring—often at 280 nm for proteins—so researchers can track elution profiles and collect fractions with confidence. Its modular design supports common chromatography techniques such as ion exchange, size exclusion, hydrophobic interaction, and affinity purification. Because it handles gradients cleanly and maintains good reproducibility, it’s well suited for isolating recombinant proteins, purifying antibody fragments, or refining complex lysates. The system integrates smoothly with fraction collectors and standard ÄKTA workflows, offering straightforward control over gradients, buffers, and column choice. In research settings it’s valued for its durability and clarity of data, helping labs move from crude samples to well-defined protein preparations essential for structural studies, enzymatic assays, or downstream biophysical analysis.

  • The Alphatech Nano DSC is a high-sensitivity differential scanning calorimeter used to precisely measure the heat absorbed or released by macromolecules as they undergo thermally-induced structural changes, providing direct insight into thermal stability and conformational transitions such as unfolding. It detects key thermodynamic parameters like the thermal transition midpoint (Tₘ) and enthalpy (ΔH) of proteins, nucleic acids, lipids and other biomolecules in solution, all without the need for labels or immobilization, and with excellent reproducibility using small sample volumes. The instrument’s sensitive thermal control and microcalorimetric design make it ideal for characterising molecular stability, folding, domain structure, and intermolecular interactions, as well as studying the effects of ligands or formulation conditions on macromolecular behaviour. The Nano DSC is suitable for protein stability studies, analysis of folding/unfolding thermodynamics, ligand-binding assessments, and evaluation of vaccine or therapeutic formulations.

  • The Lumibird StreamLine XR is a compact atmospheric doppler scanning LiDAR. It scans a full 360 sky view and measures wind speed profiles to a maximum distance of 10km (but more typically 2-3km) by measuring movement of aerosols in the air. Scan area and rate are fully configurable for a variety of atmospheric research applications. Indirect information is also collected on aerosol concentrations, but wind profiles are the primary application. The unit is self-contained and weatherproof but does require mains power. Commonly used for medium to long term monitoring, this equipment has limited availability.
