Description
The UC Mount John Observatory is located near Takapō (Tekapo) in South Canterbury. This field station allows for good access to sites around the Mackenzie Basin. The Observatory at Mt John is part of the School of Physical and Chemical Sciences research facilities. It provides outstanding conditions for observations and discoveries of the southern sky. The Observatory has a suite of observational equipment range including telescopes (0.6-1.8 m), sky cameras and a weather station. Alongside astronomical research, the facility also supports a range of other field activities that benefit from its location, infrastructure, and environmental conditions.
