The BMG Labtechnologies FLUOstar Omega is a versatile multi-mode microplate reader designed to support a wide range of quantitative and kinetic assays across molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell-based research. It offers fluorescence intensity, luminescence, and UV-Vis absorbance detection, enabling applications such as DNA/RNA quantification, protein assays, enzymatic reaction monitoring, and reporter gene analysis. The instrument’s rapid full-spectrum scanning and precise temperature control make it well suited for kinetic enzyme studies, metabolic activity assays, and microbial growth analysis. For cell-based work, its ability to perform long-term kinetics, monitor fluorescent reporters, and handle low-light signals supports applications including viability assays, intracellular signalling readouts, and pathway activation studies.
There are two Omega plate readers available for use. These units are a more recent series that the Optima and provide a greater range of detection modes and increased sensitivity.
