Description

The School of Earth and Environment at UC operates an automatic weather station at the Broken River Ski Field in Canterbury. This station supports alpine‑climate research, environmental monitoring, and operational decision‑making for the ski field. Standard measurements include wind speed, wind direction, air temperature, relative humidity, incoming short‑wave radiation, and barometric pressure, with data transmitted at regular intervals. The Broken River Ski Field Weather Station is operated in collaboration with the Broken River Ski Area and the Earth Science Institute (formerly NIWA).
